An Experienced Main Building Contractor

Mitre Construction is an experienced Main Building Contractor who, for the last 30 years, has specialised in External and Internal Refurbishment projects within and around London, both in the public and private sector.

We have provided maintenance and repair services to a number of Local Authorities for over 20 years, in addition to works on heritage and listed buildings around Sloane Square and Sloane Street on behalf of our clients.

Our success has been dependent upon our ability to adapt to the ever-changing construction market, formulating new skills and seeking the latest technology necessary to satisfy our customers by delivering on time and within budget.

Our Team

Ted Salmon

Managing Director
Bio

After succeeding his apprenticeship in stone restoration in 1989, Ted along with his brother Tony Salmon and fellow director Alan Ranscombe, founded Mitre Construction. Originally specialising in roofing and stone restoration, Ted has developed Mitre Construction from a small sub-contractor into a multi-disciplinary main contractor with clients from local authorities to major surveying practices and property management companies. Ted is still involved in the day to day running of the Company and the development of new partnerships for the company.

Tina Salmon

Director
Bio

Tina joined Mitre 12 years ago, following a career background in the travel industry. Tina is responsible for the general management of the Company and the smooth running of the office. Tina ensures all Health & Safety Accreditation's, insurances and Company policies are in place. All matters HR including salaries and pensions are overseen by Tina and she is actively involved in all the accounts and administration of the Company.

Mark Smith

Contracts Manager
Bio

Before joining Mitre Construction, Mark was a Senior Surveyor for a commercial roofing company for 8 years. He has now worked at Mitre for 19 years and thus has vast experience as a Contracts Manager on refurbishment and restoration projects, especially those with stringent conservation requirements. Throughout his time at Mitre, Mark has been responsible for pre-project planning, resource scheduling, procurement, scheduling of materials, appointing sub-contractors and formulating all health and safety documentation required for the all projects he has managed, in addition to many other roles and responsibilities.

Lee Maynard

Contracts Manager
Bio

Prior to working for Mitre, Lee spent 6 months at TSG Building Services as a Contracts Manager working on the L&Q Supported living 14/15 Programme. He has also had roles with Milaine Contracts, Allen Build & Lakehouse Contracts. Since starting with Mitre in November 2015, Lee has run numerous large-scale projects, notably Levita House; a £1.3 million project for the London Borough of Camden and the Waltham Forest Magistrates Court project; a £1.8 million project for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Currently, Lee is undertaking his NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management in order to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

Dave Daltrey

Contracts Manager
Bio

In 2000, Dave started at Mitre as a highly trained on site operative and site foreman. Following this, Dave has worked his way up to an experienced Contracts Manager, who has been responsible for all contracts within the London Borough of Waltham Forest and other surrounding areas, including Haringey Homes. For 10 years, Dave was responsible for managing our maintenance and minor repairs contract on behalf of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Phil Kingham

Senior Quantity Surveyor
Bio

Before joining Mitre in July 2013, Phil has worked for a Private Quantity Surveying Practice and several construction companies and therefore offers a wealth of experience in his field as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Phil has also became heavily involved in the re-programming and re-sequencing of projects as a result of the numerous variations he has previously dealt with. Phil is also responsible for any financial and contractual matters in conjunction with Director Alan Ranscombe. Phil’s previous experience includes a variety of projects, ranging from day to day maintenance projects to a new build mixed development of a £26 million value. At Mitre, Phil’s most prominent projects includes the Waltham Forest Magistrates Court project, refurbishment of the Anne Wall Centre and most recently the refurbishment of the Headmasters House at Harrow School.

Mark Thornton

Quantity Surveyor/Estimator
Bio

Mark joined Mitre in 2022. He has held Senior Estimating & Surveying roles with a number of SME contractors and Tier 1 companies including Countryside Properties, during his 34-year career. Mark just recently secured the Deptford Fire Station for Mitre and carried out the Surveying duties for this. He is primarily involved in Estimating works up to £5 million, providing Programmes and Quality submissions as part of the bid process. He has also recently been involved with our bids for a number of National Frameworks. Marks experience has seen him involved with traditional contracting to cost management responsibility for development projects to values of £750 million. Mark is CIOB qualified and also holds a HNC in Building Studies

James Salmon Msc (Hons)

Quantity Surveyor
Bio

James joined Mitre in August 2018, following his undergraduate degree in Business Management at the University of Nottingham, where he achieved an Upper Second Class degree. Currently, James is working alongside the Senior Estimating and Senior Surveying team across numerous external and internal projects, assisting with the measurement and recording of works through photographic and documentary evidence obtained from site visits. James has also assisted with both the development of valuations and variation documentation and has developed project programmes alongside the Contracts Managers prior to new projects commencing. James has also completed a Masters Degree in Construction Cost Management on a part-time basis, alongside his full-time role as a Quantity Surveyor at Mitre Construction.

Jack Sullivan

Estimator
Bio

Jack joined Mitre in 2008 as a Trainee Surveyor, supporting our Senior Surveyors on a vast quantity of projects, particularly on behalf of Freshwater Group of Properties. Through his continuous development and ever-growing experience, Jack has developed into a highly trained Estimator and Quantity Surveyor who works closely with the Directors and other senior members of the surveying team.

Susan Hill

Compliance Manager
Bio

The newest recruit to Mitre is Su, who has worked in Administration since leaving school. Whilst having worked in a number of Sectors, Su joins us from a Stone Restoration company. At Mitre, Su will be monitoring Subcontractor paperwork and our Database, as well as assisting the Estimating Department with PQQ’s and Tina with Health and Safety Accreditations and Company Policies.

Sandra Whitehead

Administrator
Bio

Sandra joined Mitre 12 years ago, following a career background in the banking industry. Sandra is responsible for all office-based administration, including the processing of all client and supplier billing. Sandra keeps timesheets for all site staff and is responsible for the smooth running of all our reactive maintenance contracts.

In turn, this has allowed us to form long term relationships with both local and national subcontractors and suppliers throughout our 30 year history. As a result, we can confidently assure all of our clients that any operatives utilised on their projects are of the highest standard.
